  • Description
  • The Shaving Brush Plant is a very interesting and useful macroalgae. Shaving Brush Plants are green leafy plants that grow in a tight upward branching manner.

Shaving Brush Plants can be placed in both display tanks and refugiums. Shaving Brush Plants need to be planted in swallow sand beds and require both moderate lighting and flow rates. Shaving Brush Plants are also peaceful plants that will not bother other plants, coral, inverts or fish in your tanks. This makes the Shaving Brush Plant a good plant to even add to reef tanks.

As the Shaving Brush Plant grows, it will start to consume the nitrates and nutrients in your tank to grow. If the Shaving Brush Plant gets too large, it can be trimmed, which will essentially remove nutrients out of your tank naturally. Be careful since some fish that are herbivores will eat the Shaving Brush Plant.

Shaving Brush Plants will get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis and your tank's water column, so there is no need for supplemental feedings.
