  • Description
  • Star Polyps are one of the most often seen and popular coral species found in home aquariums. Star Polyps come in mostly green and brown varieties.

Star Polyps have become so popular with aquarists because of how fast they grown and their low requirements. Star Polyps are an encrusting coral that will cover virtually anything in the aquarium. Some people use Star Polyps on overflow boxes, tank backs, live rock, etc… to make the tank seem more natural. Star Polyps spread very fast, so caution must be taken when adding them to your tank.

Star Polyps are peaceful corals and will not attack other coral. Star Polyps can be placed close to other non-aggressive corals, but take note that the Star Polyps can overtake that coral.

Star Polyps should be placed anywhere from the middle to the top of your tank. They tend to also require moderate to high flow rates and lighting. For the most part they are very hardy and should do well in most environments.

Star Polyps get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis and through the water column. You can supplement its diet by adding micro-plankton or baby brine shrimp during evening hours.

Since Star Polyps come in various colors, please make sure that you select the color you desire from the item options drop down list. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about Star Polyps and if they’re the right coral for your tank.
