  • Description
  • The Red Finger Coral is a stunning and elegant soft coral. Red Finger Corals grow upwards in a branching manner from a central base. Red Finger Corals tend to be mostly red in color with bright white polyps.

Red Finger Corals should be placed in the bottom of you tank on the substrate and require low lighting and moderate to high indirect water flow. Red Finger Corals are hard to keep since they can't really be exposed to strong lighting but still need higher flow rates. The flow hitting a Red Finger Coral cannot be direct and need to be random and indirect. Red Finger Corals should be placed in areas where live rock provide a light barrier for the coral. Once you have placed your Red Finger Coral, watch for any signs of stress over a few days. If you see that the coral is stressed, simply try to move it a few inches until it seems happier.

Red Finger Corals are peaceful corals and shouldn't bother their nearby coral neighbors. Red Finger Corals can grow fairly large, so make sure that it will not close to close to aggressive species of LPS or brain corals in the near future.

Red Finger Corals do not get any of their nutrition through photosynthesis, so they will need supplemental feedings to thrive. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, meaty coral foods and baby brine shrimp should give your Red Finger Coral enough nutrition.
