  • Description
  • The Pumping Xenia is an extremely popular and interesting coral. Pumping Xenias have one stalk with a large polyp with 8 arms on them. Pumping Xenia are often found in many colors but tan, green and purple tend to be the most common. Pumping Xenia have an interesting behavior of pulsing, which adds a very nice sense of movement to your tank.

Pumping Xenia should be placed in the bottom to middle of your tank and require moderate lighting and moderate to high water flow. After you have placed your Pumping Xenia, watch for any signs of stress. If you see any stress from your Pumping Xenia, simply move it a few inches and watch for improvement.

Pumping Xenia are very peaceful corals and shouldn't bother any other close by coral neighbors. Pumping Xenia do have the ability to spread and encrust over your rock work, so many aquarists will end up putting Pumping Xenia on a lone rock island to keep its spreading under control.

Pumping Xenia will get most of their nutritional needs through filter feeding and also through photosynthesis. Pumping Xenia hardly ever need supplemental feedings, but if you would like to supplement the diet of your Pumping Xenia, simply feed the tank small meaty foods like baby brine shrimp or plankton in the evening hours.

If you have any questions about the Pumping Xenia and if it's the right coral for your tank, feel free to contact us at any time.
