  • Description
  • Assorted Anglers are a fascinating species of fish which can change color over time to suit their environment. The can range from color in pink to almost black to best blend in to their surroundings.

Anglers can get as large as 9 inches when fully grown, but only require an aquarium of only 40 gallons since they are not active swimmers. Anglers are ambush predators, who wait for unsuspecting prey to wonder close to them before they attack. They lure prey with spine that looks similar to a small fish, when the pretty goes for the spin, the Anglers snatch them up. For this reason, Anglers should not be housed with any fish or inverts small enough to fit into their mouth. This makes adding an Angler to your reef tank a risky addition.

To help Anglers get used to life in an aquarium, you should use live feeder shrimp to get the Angler eating. Over time other meaty seafood can be substituted for live food. Anglers will also require lots of rock to thrive in an aquarium.
