  • Description
  • The Spotted Sweetlips is a large and peaceful sweetlips. Spotted Sweetlips look dramatically different from when they are juveniles to fully grown adults. Juvenile Spotted Sweetlips have a mostly brown body with big white markings. As an adult Spotted Sweetlips have a white body with lots of smaller black dots.

Spotted Sweetlips reach a maximum adult size of around 30 inches and need to be housed in tanks that are at least 500 gallons in size. Spotted Sweetlips are pretty peaceful fish and should bother other fish or coral in your tank. Spotted Sweetlips will try to eat most inverts it can find in the tank. For this reason, it's advised that you take caution if adding a Spotted Sweetlips to your reef tank.

Spotted Sweetlips are extremely strong swimmers and need a tank with lots of open areas for it to swim. Spotted Sweetlips can also be shy, and given their large size require loads of live rock to be present in the tank, so they can have areas to hide if they feel threatened.

Spotted Sweetlips are carnivores and need to be feed a diet that is very rich in meaty foods. Foods such as small chunks of fresh seafood like clams, shrimp, scallops, fish and crab will keep your Spotted Sweetlips happy and healthy. Sometimes Spotted Sweetlips can be stubborn to start eating in aquariums, so you can used live foods like feeder shrimp to get them eating.
