  • Description
  • The Crocea Clam is an extremely colorful and beautiful smaller clam. Crocea Clams have very brightly colored mantles and can range in color from blue to orange. Since there are so many color variations of the Crocea Clam, make sure you select the color you desire when adding a Crocea Clam to your cart.

Crocea Clams reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 20 gallons in size. Crocea Clams should be placed on the bottom of your tank on the substrate, Crocea Clams will then burrow slightly into your substrate. Crocea Clams require very intense lighting to thrive. You must acclimate your new Crocea Clam to your tanks lighting over a week or two though. Crocea Clams are peaceful inverts and shouldn't bother other fish, inverts or coral in your tank.

Crocea Clams shouldn't be kept in tanks that have fish that like eating clams like some angels and butterflies. Crocea Clams will not do well if they are constantly picked at either. Crocea Clams are often priced based on how intense their coloration is or how intricate their mantle patterns are. Crocea Clams will also need to be provided trace elements that are best added back to your tank through water changes or dosing.

Crocea Clams are filter feeders and should get most of their nutrition through your tanks water column. If you would like to supplement your Crocea Clams diet, simply add small meaty foods to the tank like mysis or baby brine shrimp and micro-plankton.

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about the Crocea Clam and if it's the right clam for your tank.
